ATHR Foundation for Development in cooperation with MEPI funds conducted this project to advocate, raise awareness and educate Yemeni society about street harassment against women, its negative impact on women's safety, and explore ways and efforts to change social attitudes and mindsets towards women's treatment in public places.

The project included four main activities; first, establish baseline data on street harassment rate against women by interviewing a stratified random sample of 540 women from Sana’a City .Second, organize several sessions for representatives of the local councils and five pilot police stations, to evaluate the current system available for women to report harassment and to make recommendations to develop a more efficient one. Third, organize focus group discussions for representatives from NGOs, youth, religious leaders and local authorities, to develop and design a campaign approach and activities. Fourth, organize a five-month public awareness-raising campaign through media, TV, radio, press and religious institutions, to empower women and equip them with the necessary knowledge and tools to report harassment and pursue justice.
